The playing body of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars, have each been presented with an amount of twenty thousand dollars by the President, His Excellency, John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills, for coming home with the silver medal at the 27th African Cup of Nations held in Angola.

The presentation to the 23-man Black Stars playing body, which was in recognition of their splendid performance, was made known at a presidential reception at the OSU Castle, on Tuesday, February 2nd.

Seven members of the technical team also received $20,000 each.

The team had early on been presented with $30,000 each as qualification bonus for making a quarter final berth, while their progression from the quarter-final and semi-final stages, also received good bonuses.

Goalkeeper Richard Kingston, who was the skipper for the side, donated his autographed number 22 jersey, which he wore during the final against Egypt, to President Mills. A smiling President Mills was happy for the gift and promised to don it in 2012, a strategic time, he said.

The Black Stars arrived home last night from Angola to a tumultuous welcome despite losing 1-0 to the Pharaohs of Egypt in the epic final.

The dollar is the money the organizers of the tournament CAF gave the government of Ghana for Black Stars' qualification for and participating in the orange african cup of nations 2010. it would only take a corrupt government to give the Black Stars something else and not dollars. Ghana is now in better hands than what we saw from 2001 to 2008.

Why Dollars and Not Cedis?
Why should we be paying Dollars to Ghanaians in Ghana and not Ghana Cedis?. They should have been given GHC30,000 so they will be forced to invest in our economy. We give them foreign exchange and they either go to the forex to change into cedis or invest outside Ghana. How will we grow our economy if we continue to look down on our currency
