John Paintsil has reacted angrily to claims that he stabbed his wife, saying the Ghana Police will apologize to his wife while taking a dig at the media.
"I did not stab her. We had arguments but I did not stab her," he told Israeli media.
Paintsil alleges that there is a plot to smear his reputation.
"To be honest with you, some people were trying to (I mean) disgrace me and paying people to do unnecessary things, stupid things on air to destroy my name but I have no idea and I just want to leave everything to God. That’s it."
The player, who has been released to find a new club by Hapoel Tel Aviv, says the Ghana Police will apologize to his wife, Richlove, for their error in initially saying there was a stabbing.
"The Police make [sic] a mistake to issue that statement and they are coming out to apologize to her."
The five-time Afcon participant then rails at the media treatment he's been given. "Everything you've been hearing on the internet, in the newspapers and on the radio is bullshit. It's never true".
