The National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Kwabena Agyei, has thrown his weight behind Milovan Rajevac, Head Coach of the Senior National team, the Black Stars, to be retained as the head coach.

According to the recently re-elected Chairman of the NDC party, he has never supported the idea of frequent sacking and changing of coaches of the national football team, adding that there was a need to maintain the coach.

“I detest the idea of sacking the coach or disgracing him on media platform when we go and lose a match....If he has brought the players to this level and has performed so excellently, why change him? He should continue,” he stated.

Speaking in an interview just after the final of the epic encounter between the Black Stars and the Pharaohs of Egypt, he said the Stars needed to be congratulated for their sterling performance and reaching the final for the first time in 18 years, since 1992.

Though he recounted instances where the coach could have made changes early to save the team, he opined that the coach knew best.

He added that coaches should be given the necessary room to perform without any interference from the public.

“You don’t know how coaches do their things, I don’t usually interfere. But I think that the timing of changing some of the players was a little bit too late, because he could have injected some new blood into the boys soon after the first half,” he said.

He however insisted that the coach knew better.

“He knew better, so we can’t complain much.” He believes that the Stars have the potential to lift the trophy two years from now.
“The performance of the Black Stars, the very young ones, was excellent; they did their best, they have shown that they have come of age,” he added.

The Pharaoh’s of Egypt proved they are masters of African football when they beat the young determined Black Stars of Ghana 1-0 to win the African Cup of Nations for the 7th time and thrice in a row, at the November 11 stadium in Luanda, Angola on Sunday 31st Jan 2010.

Five minutes to the end of regulation time, the Stars rear was broken, and that presented substitute, Gedo the opportunity to strike home the opener and winning goal, after the defence failed to clear their lines.

Dr Kwabena Agyei led a 200-man contingent on a government sponsored return trip to Launda to cheer the Stars in the Sunday final with the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Asiedu-Sekyi,China.
My good country men can anyone tell me why this coach should be retained for three good reasons, let me remaind you of something even cocoa asi coach can lead Ghana black star because we already has the talent unlike china, japan, and some of the asia teams that needs guidance, our gallant boys lost the game cause of the coach's superiority not listening to advice because he doesn't respect Ghanaians not even Kwasi Nyantakyi or his assistant coach. My big question is why dont we use our local coaches, after all, local coaches every now and then beats our foreign so-call-coaches,on the other hand our local coaches have proven to be more better than the foreign coches so far as the African cup of nations is concern, what is more local coaches from elsewhere in the African continent who deserves not to beat Ghana has beaten this coah on two different platforms on finals CHAN and CAN respectively. Considering this basic facts and more I for one dont see why we should go for a foreign coaches and some scape goat translators whiles that same many can hire two competent local coaches, after all the boys we all saw and praised is the end product of a hard working local coach. Dr.Kwabena Adjei,I think you are 100% right that we should maintain at least one coach for along time but that does not hold the arguement that it should be a foreign coach or "MILO".thanks very much Dr. I love your brillant ideal consistantcy is the key to any successful team in the world being it club or national.

I think he should be fired or another good coach should be hired to support him. He call wrong players and make wrong subtitutins. He can't read games. We can never count on him when it comes to calling right players and making good subtitution to win games

changing coach is not a solution, i think he should be retained, is better he stay to learn and improve than bringing a new coach and starting all over and wasting time and money. MILO have shown he can improve let us keep him however congratulation to all the black stars and also speedy recovery for our injured players let us regroup and amend our differences

i don't think the coach should be fired.what i think is instead of the gorvernment paying for 200 people just go and enjoy themselves under the pretext of supporting the senior national soccer team, the money should have been in the provision of basic social amenities. believe it or not we still have students who study under trees and God forbid there is a sign of rainfall then teachers will just call the class off.

It never stops to amuse me how Ghanaians always equate game loss to inefficiency on the part of a coach.A soccer team is like the body system, each department plays a cardinal role in the survival and growth of the team. The way we blame coaches makes me feel like Milovan is a synonym of Black Stars.Black stars is a complete team, hence we should find solutions as a team and stop reducing its failures to one person. It is unfair and a great sin against the holy game of football.

The coach should be fired. The question is not him choosing more U20 players. The question is did he use them well? Why did he not use Adiyia and Osei, the proven goal scorers? He knows that Adiyia is a goal hunter and he only brought him in when it was too late, about 4 munites of play. Tell me, what kind of coach will do that? By the way, those U20 were not trained by him. They are the products of a local coach. I think he should go.

ghallday
Indeed he should be retained. He has proven himself. Many thought he was making a blunder when he chose so many players from the U20 side.It turns out that he knew what he was doing. Retain him.He did a great job.
