Black Stars striker Mathew Amoah has hit out at his critics, saying that criticisms on his inability to score goals at Angola 2010 are unfair. Amoah, who was Ghana’s top scorer in the 2010 Africa Cup and world cup qualifiers with five goals, failed to replicate his form in Angola where he made four appearances.

Critics have said that the Nac Breda striker has consistently not performed well in major tournaments after showing early promise in the qualifier, using his performance at the 2006 African Cup of Nations and the World Cup as reference points.

In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Mathew Amoah said such suggestions are unwarranted.

He said though Ghanaians do not appreciate his efforts to the success of the Black Stars, he will continue to remain strong and committed to the national team. “Ghanaians don’t appreciate anything, people can say whatever they like …I played two matches in this tournament…and I did what the coach wanted me to do, I played both as a striker and as a midfielder…so I am not bothered by what Ghanaians say. I know I did my best according to the coach’s decision”, he added.

Aban tell the government to stop using your tax on the players. How much tax do you pay in a month? so becuase of your so called tax the players should kill themselves on the field for you? leave them alone, you should've been there if you know how to play. Ungretful beings, even if this players cut their head for you you'll not appreciate it. Eye den koraa.

Young man, do not worry about those ungrateful Ghanaians who will do nothing good for the country but only sit down with bottles of apio to condemn others .I was sad to hear even pastors condemning the coach and calling for his dismissal.UNGRATEFUL PEOPLE.

RE: ABAN, HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY THEM? PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE THE ONE WHO MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR SOME OF THESE PLAYERS TO DIE FOR GHANA. THESE PLAYERS PLAY FOR THE LOVE OF THE COUNTRY BUT NOT FOR MONEY. ESSIEN MAKES ABOUT 360,000.000.00 OLD CEDIS A WEEK. CAN YOU PAY HIM THAT KIND OF MONEY?.

It is human nature. Just concerntrate on your job and believe me you will go places. We had limited players so the coach had to do what was best in our situation.

i am really disapointed about Amoah's comment,he should know that we use our tax payers money to pay them, they dont play the matches for free,we pay them so we demand our good result to boost our moral and entertain our self, that is why i made comment before that no player is perminent in the national teams, every Ghanaian has his share in the national cake,we can change to use any player we want.Ghanaians need appology from Amoah for his ungredful comment,we need fit players to represent the nation,Amaoah did not play for Black Stars for free,we pay them with the sweat of poor Ghanaians money.
