Ghana captain John Mensah says his colleagues believe coach Kwesi Appiah has the requisite qualities to guide the Black Stars to success.

The 51-year-old was given a seal of approval to take permanent charge of the Black Stars on Monday with a firm believe he has the credentials to end the country’s long-wait for an African title next year.

The Ghana Federation boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has reiterated his outfit’s commitment to offer him an unrivalled support in his new appointment.

The Lyon stalwart defender and his team-mates, who will be key components in the immediate future of the Black Stars, have already sent their well-wishes to the former Asante Kotoko defender.

“On my own behalf, and on behalf of the entire Black Stars team, I congratulate coach Appiah on his appointment,” Mensah said.

“It is refreshing news and we are happy for him.

“My colleagues and I will give our best shot, we promise to give him our uttermost best by way of cooperation and commitment as we strive to qualify for next World and Nations Cups.”

Appiah will hit the ground running ahead of the Black Stars 2014 opening World cup qualifier against Lesotho in June.

Several players of the Black Stars including Udinese duo of Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Kwadwo Asamoah as well as Anthony Annan have voiced their support for the new coach
