Wolverhampton manager Stale Solbakken says a loan move for Arsenal’s Emmanuel Frimpong would have been an ‘insult’ to midfielder David Davis.

Wolves will monitor Frimpong but Solbakken said: ”It would be very rude and not right when we have David Davis, who we’ve encouraged and who has made real progress.

“Frimpong is a good player but he needs four to eight weeks more to come back to his best. That’s harsh against Davis because he’s the one who’d be put one step behind.

“I don’t think that is fair. If Frimpong was at his best and didn’t have this knee injury he could go into the team and strengthen us.

“He’s a quality player but has been out for a long time and played only three or four games. That would be an insult to Davis, who’s got these messages he’s close to the team and has done well.”
