Defender Ohene Brenya is certain Asante Kotoko will be successful in their title defence this season.
The champions are currently third in the Ghanaian top flight but have struggled for consistency in the first half of the competition.
The former captain of the side has however assured fans the team will retain its title despite their relatively disappointing first round.
“We have disappointed them (supporters) in the first round,” he told Angel FM
“I will urge them to forgive us and against support us as we prepare for the second round.
“I promise them we will defend the league trophy. Let me re-emphasize, we will defend the league trophy.”
Kotoko could only garner 26 points after winning six drawing a staggering eight and losing once in the 15 games played.
